Two new members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles — one of the highest governing bodies of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints — were announced today at the start of the Church's semiannual world general conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The two new apostles are a
native German, Dieter F. Uchtdorf, and an educator, David A.
Bednar, currently president of Brigham Young University-Idaho. Each
will address the worldwide audience during the conference
weekend.
