NFL football player and Latter-day Saint Kyle Van Noy posted on social media about the power of prayer after his son recently survived a “scary” medical ordeal.

“I want to give you my testimony on prayer,” the former Brigham Young University star wrote in his Twitter post. “Prayer has always been a key component for my family and myself individually. I truly believe God hears you when you talk to Him.”

According to Van Noy’s post, his son Trae successfully had his tonsils removed but continued to be sick. The doctors determined he had a “rare congenital anomaly in his small intestine that was perforated and causing a serious infection.” He needed emergency surgery.

“Trae is the sweetest boy and to see him at the point he was at crushed us,” Van Noy wrote. “But we prayed and prayed.”

After 10 days in the hospital and “a lot of scary moments,” his body responded to antibiotics and treatment, which allowed him to return home.

Van Noy thanked all medical personnel and attributed his son’s recovery to answered prayers.

“I promise you that if you pray, He will listen! He’s always there. Even when you don’t think He is or you don’t think it’s worth it, He is listening. I promise He hears you,” Van Noy wrote. “He answered our prayers for the last 10 days.”

After a successful career at BYU, Van Noy has played for the Detroit Lions, New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers. He was a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Patriots.
