Plans to construct the temple were announced 14 March 1999, Church leaders broke ground 3 July 1999, and President James E. Faust, second counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicated the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple 30 July 2000. The temple serves Latter-day Saints in Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Missouri.
The 10,769-square-foot temple’s exterior is Imperial Danby white marble.
Currently, there are more than 20 temples in various stages of construction or have been announced throughout the world.
