Open House, Dedication Announced for Manhattan New York Temple

SALT LAKE CITY — The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the open house and dedication dates for the Manhattan New York Temple.

The new temple will open to the public 8 May and remain open until 5 June 2004, except for Sundays: 9 May, 16 May, 23 May, and 30 May 2004. The temple is being constructed within an existing building near Lincoln Center in Manhattan, 125 Columbus Ave., New York City.

The temple will be dedicated Sunday, 13 June 2004, in four sessions. The Church currently operates 117 temples worldwide.

For nearly 12 million Latter-day Saints worldwide, including more than 62,000 who reside in the New York area, temples are considered "houses of the Lord" where Christ's teachings are reaffirmed through marriage, baptism and other sacred ordinances that unite families for eternity.

A limited number of public open house tickets are available on the Internet at lds.org/temples.
