PBS Interviews With Church Leaders Posted

The transcripts of PBS interviews with two leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are being posted on the Newsroom today for the first time.

The Mormons, a four-hour documentary on The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was broadcast nationally on PBS on 30 April and 1 May 2007. Simultaneously, PBS posted Web pages on the program that included many additional resources for viewers.

One such resource was the inclusion of select, edited transcripts from some of those who were interviewed for the documentary. For a variety of reasons, PBS was not able to post transcripts from everyone who appeared in the program.

Church Public Affairs has worked with editors at to post on the Newsroom the transcripts from interviews given by President Boyd K. Packer, acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and Elder Dallin H. Oaks, also a member of that Quorum. The transcripts, which have been edited for clarity and length, bring additional information, context and clarification to the various subjects addressed in the documentary.
