As part of a virtual concert with Christmas music from around the world on Friday, November 25, Primary General President Susan H. Porter testified of the Savior Jesus Christ and “the promise of Christmas.”

“The promise of Christmas is the promise of hope for every person who has ever lived on earth,” President Porter said. “Because of the baby born in a humble stable, we can have the promise of eternal joy with God. For that Baby was the Son of God, born to bring the fulfillment of all the promises made by prophets since the world began.”

The concert — titled “The Promise of Christmas” — premiered November 25 and the video is available to watch throughout the Christmas season. Presented by Temple Square Performances, the hour-long, prerecorded broadcast celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ through hope-filled messages and new arrangements of favorite Christmas music.

Through Jesus’ infinite love, He kept His promise to come to earth to offer redemption from sin and death, enabling God’s children to return home, President Porter said. And He has promised to come again — “not as a baby, but as our King of Kings and Lord of Lords.”

“What promises can you and I make to Him?” President Porter asked. “Can we love as He did? Bring compassion to the sorrowing? Forgive another? Invite peace? I testify that He is indeed the promised Messiah. How grateful I am for Him at this sacred season.”

Hosted by Stephen Jones, the concert features performances from the Philippines, Africa and the Dominican Republic and songs by groups including the crossover string trio Simply Three, Brazilian singer Gabrielly Lourenço, BYU Vocal Point, One Voice Children’s Choir, LittleJohn (duo) and Nauvoo Performing Missionaries.

The event concludes with “A Savior is Born,” sung by Nik Day, with missionaries from the California Riverside Mission signing the lyrics in American Sign Language.

“The Promise of Christmas” concert is part of the 2022 Light the World initiative, which invites all to share kindness as Jesus did. “We point people to the Lord when we share our light,” Jones said during the concert.
