Taking viewers with her from the elevator into her office in the southwest corner of the Relief Society Building on Temple Square, Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson showed what a day in her life looks like this week.
When sharing the video on Facebook and Instagram, President Johnson wrote, “Join me for a day in the office and learn about the work of our Relief Society presidency.”
The video demonstrated a Tuesday morning, which began with a meeting with the Young Women General Presidency, Primary General Presidency and Relief Society General Presidency.
“Those eight women I simply adore. They are my dear friends. It’s the perfect way to start our work week, together, counseling about the things that matter,” President Johnson said in the video.
The video showed the presidency members talking together around a table in the Relief Society council room — the meeting was held in that room as the Relief Society was taking the lead that week for the meeting.
President Johnson then walked with Young Women General President Bonnie H. Cordon and Primary General President Susan H. Porter to another set of offices on Temple Square as the leaders went to an executive directors meeting in the Priesthood and Family Department.
“The Priesthood and Family Department – we operate under that umbrella,” President Johnson said in the video. “It’s really the everyday life of members — curriculum; ‘Come, Follow Me’ materials; what happens in Primary, Young Women and Young Men; what you see in Relief Society and elders quorum; scriptures and hymnbooks. So we counsel about those things.”
The large table included other general leaders and authorities speaking together.
Next in the video, President Johnson was back in her office with her two counselors, Sister J. Anette Dennis and Sister Kristin M. Yee, and three administrative staff members “who are absolutely, positively part of the team,” President Johnson said.
The women had notebooks and laptops with them around the small table as they coordinated together.
“Much like what we do in family councils, where we address what’s on the calendar and how we are going to make things happen, this is really our Relief Society family council that happens every Tuesday morning,” President Johnson said.
That was all just the first part of her day, she explained in the video, and she asked people to respond or comment with any questions they had.
Many of the comments have expressed appreciation for the video and for all they learned. Others said they hoped to learn more in the future about different aspects of the women leaders’ work.
