All rights reserved.Beginning January 2026, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around the world will study the Old Testament using “Come, Follow Me.” The Church has released new and updated resources to help members deepen their understanding, strengthen faith and invite the Spirit.
2026 Old Testament Learning Resources
- “Come Follow Me” manual: The “Come, Follow Me” manual is the primary resource for Old Testament study and provides weekly study guides with questions for pondering and discussion as well as learning activities that individuals, families and Church classes can use throughout the year. The new manual is available digitally on the Gospel Library app and ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
Some printed manuals will be distributed to wards. However, many wards will receive fewer manuals than in past years. Ward councils determine how to distribute manuals to households that prefer paper copies. Leaders then determine whether additional copies are needed. Leaders and members can order them from store.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
- Old Testament Stories: Illustrated scripture stories and videos are available to help children and families understand Old Testament accounts and bring the scriptures to life. Printed copies are being sent to ward leaders to give to families with a Primary-age child. You can access these stories digitally in Gospel Library and on the Gospel for Kids YouTube channel.
- Scripture Helps: Old Testament: This resource supports scripture study by providing historical context, prophetic commentary, doctrinal insights and answers to questions. Links to Scripture Helps can be found throughout “Come, Follow Me” and in related sections of digital scriptures. These resources build on the institute student manuals that many members are familiar with, now updated and expanded for broader use. They can also be accessed as a full collection in Gospel Library.

- New commissioned artwork: “Come, Follow Me” includes 12 new works of art that were commissioned for this year’s edition of the manual. These images, which depict Old Testament people and events, can help learners visualize scripture stories and teachings.
- “Insights from the Apostles” videos: This monthly video series launched in 2025 will continue in 2026. Each video features a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles sharing messages related to an Old Testament scripture. Videos will be published each month in the digital “Come, Follow Me” study guides. They can also be found in a collection in Gospel Library.
- Games, stories and activities for children: The Church publishes a collection of games, stories, activities and other helps for teaching children, correlated to the “Come, Follow Me” study guides. These resources can assist parents and Primary leaders. Links are provided in each week’s “Come, Follow Me” study guide.
- “Gospel Learning and Teaching” email subscription and social media accounts: Each week, the Church shares content to support your “Come, Follow Me” study in an email subscription and on Facebook and Instagram accounts. This content includes insights from Apostles and members, teaching tips and ideas for improving gospel learning at home and at church. You can manage email subscriptions through your Church account here.
- Alternate Bible translations: The Church has published its own edition of the Bible in select languages and has identified preferred editions of the Bible in many languages spoken by Church members. Church members are instructed to generally use these editions in Church meetings and classes. However, the General Handbook has recently been updated to clarify that other Bible translations may also be used that might be easier to understand and doctrinally clear. To learn more and see examples of recommended Bible translations, see General Handbook, 38.8.40.1.
Digital Tools to Aid Scripture Study
