Plans to construct the temple were announced 12 December 2003, Church leaders broke ground 30 July 2005, and Thomas S. Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicated the Rexburg Idaho Temple 10 February 2008. The temple serves Latter-day Saints in Rexburg and eastern Idaho.

The 57,504-square-foot temple’s exterior is precast concrete with a quartz rock finish and 700 art-glass window-panes.

Currently, there are more than 20 temples in various stages of construction or have been announced throughout the world.
