Summer 2015 Opening for New Temples

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the open house, cultural celebration and dedication dates for the Trujillo Peru and Indianapolis Indiana Temples.

Trujillo Peru Temple
A free public open house for the Trujillo Peru Temple will begin on Friday, May 8, and go through Saturday, May 30, 2015, and run every day except Sundays, May 10, 17 and 24. The cultural celebration will be held Saturday, June 20, and the temple will be dedicated Sunday, June 21, in three sessions.

The dedication services will be broadcast at 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to meetinghouses in Peru. The three-hour block of meetings on the 21st will be cancelled so that Latter-day Saints can participate in the sessions.

The temple was announced by the First Presidency in December 2008, and ground was broken September 14, 2011.

The temple will serve more than 88,000 members of the Church in and around Trujillo.

Indianapolis Indiana Temple
A free public open house for the Indianapolis Indiana Temple will be held from Friday, July 17, through Saturday, August 8, 2015, and run every day except Sundays, July 19 and 26 and August 2. The cultural celebration will be held Saturday, August 22, and the temple will be dedicated in three sessions on Sunday, August 23.

The dedicatory sessions at 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. will be broadcast only within the temple district, and the three-hour block of meetings for those congregations will be cancelled for that Sunday.

The temple was announced by President Thomas S. Monson in October 2010, and ground was broken to begin construction September 29, 2012.

The temple will serve 25,000 Latter-day Saints in Indiana and eastern Illinois.

The temple will be located in the city of Carmel on the southwest corner of the intersection of W116th and Spring Mill Road.

The Trujillo and Indianapolis Temples will make the 147th and 148th operating temples in the world. Open house and dedication dates for the Córdoba Argentina and Payson Utah Temples were announced last month.
