In April 2019, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans for the renovation of the Salt Lake Temple. In December 2019, the Salt Lake Temple was or closed for renovation. The following are regular updates about the progress of the Salt Lake Temple renovation, which is expected to take four years.
The Salt Lake Temple and Temple Square renovation is underway, and will bring a variety of changes to Temple Square and surrounding areas. Pedestrian and vehicle traffic will also be impacted from time to time. Please refer to the map below to help navigate Temple Square.
All buildings listed on the map remain open with many things to see and do. We recommend starting your visit to Temple Square at the Conference Center, where you can view an orientation film in the Conference Center Theater, see a new statue of Jesus Christ, view a cutaway model of the Salt Lake Temple, and see other new exhibits.
