Plans to construct the temple were announced 16 August 1999, Church leaders broke ground 26 August 2000, and Gordon B. Hinckley, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1995 to 2008, dedicated the The Hague Netherlands Temple 8 September 2002. The temple serves Latter-day Saints in the Netherlands, Belgium and part of France.

The 14,477-square-foot temple’s exterior is polished granite.

Currently, there are more than 20 temples in various stages of construction or have been announced throughout the world.
