Update: President Hinckley in Recovery

SALT LAKE CITY — The Church has received a heartwarming outpouring of get-well wishes for President Gordon B. Hinckley, a Church spokesman said today.

Dale Bills said that President Hinckley, leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is resting comfortably in a Salt Lake City hospital after undergoing surgery earlier this week. He is expected to resume his normal duties soon.

Following a routine medical screening, President Hinckley was found to have cancerous growth in his large intestine. The diseased portion of the intestine was successfully removed through a laparoscopic procedure.
