The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the open house and dedication dates for the Fort Worth Texas Temple and the groundbreaking date for the Barcelona Spain Temple.
Fort Worth Texas Temple
A media day for the Fort Worth Texas Temple will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026, followed by tours for invited guests on November 3 and 4. The public open house will be held Thursday, November 5, through Saturday, November 21, 2026 (excluding Sundays).
The dedication will take place on Sunday, January 10, 2027, and will be broadcast to all congregations in the Fort Worth Texas Temple district.
This will be the sixth dedicated temple in the state, joining temples in Dallas, Houston, Lubbock, McAllen and San Antonio. Temples are under construction in Austin and Fairview and have been announced in El Paso and Fort Bend.
Texas is home to nearly 400,000 members of the Church, meeting in around 750 congregations.
The Fort Worth Texas Temple was announced in 2021.
Barcelona Spain Temple

McConkie III of the Europe Central Area Presidency will preside at the event.
Nearly 72,000 Latter-day Saints reside in Spain, meeting in around 150 congregations.
This will be the second house of the Lord in the country. The Madrid Spain Temple was dedicated in 1999. The Barcelona Spain Temple was announced in 2022.
In a recent general conference, President Dallin H. Oaks testified that God’s power is available to all through participating in sacred ordinances in the house of the Lord.
“The sealing powers of the priesthood, directed by the keys restored in the Kirtland Temple (in 1836), bring families together for eternity,” he said. “They are currently being exercised in a growing number of temples of the Lord throughout the world.”
Latter-day Saints worship in temples for several reasons: to feel God’s love and peace, to learn more about God’s plan for His children and the gospel of Jesus Christ, to make promises with God and with one’s husband or wife, and to participate in sacred ordinances that allow families to be united in this life and the next.
