Plans to construct the temple were announced 25 May 2006, Church leaders broke ground 4 August 2007, and Thomas S. Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicated the Vancouver British Columbia Temple 2 May 2010. The temple serves Latter-day Saints in British Columbia and northern Washington.

The 28,165-square-foot temple’s exterior is Branco Siena granite from Brazil.

Currently, there are more than 20 temples in various stages of construction or have been announced throughout the world.
