Plans to construct the temple were announced 14 April 1999, Church leaders broke ground 29 May 1999, and President Thomas S. Monson, then a counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicated the Veracruz Mexico Temple 9 July 2000. The temple serves Latter-day Saints in Veracruz and in the eastern central coast of Mexico.

The 10,700-square-foot temple’s exterior is Blanco Guardiano white marble.

Currently, there are 30 temples in various stages of construction or have been announced throughout the world.
