In a Church News interview, Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recalled reading the Book of Mormon as an 11-year-old boy in Sweden. One night, he waited for his brother to go to sleep, knelt on a very cold floor and prayed to know if the book was true.
“This amazing warmth filled me as if I were being told, ‘I have been telling you all along it is true.’ That was the beginning for me,” Elder Renlund said.
In this Church News video, titled “I Know That He Lives,” Elder Renlund promises that those who “ask in faith” will gain, by the power of the Holy Ghost, a testimony of the “truth and divinity” of the Book of Mormon and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
“That is what changed my life,” he said. “And so that is encouragement to read the Book of Mormon — to find out that it is true and thereby come to know that Jesus is the Christ.”
