It has been two years since President Thomas S. Monson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints lowered the age for missionary service. The announcement came during the October 2012 general conference, which lowered the minimum age of service from 19 to 18 for men, and from 21 to 19 for women.
Since the announcement, many Mormon families have had more than one missionary serving at the same time. This new video features the Trujillo family of Quito, Ecuador, which is one of those families providing support to more than one “elder” or “sister” missionary.
The Trujillo siblings are part of a surge in the number of young men and young women who are volunteering their time to share the message of Jesus Christ at their own expense in 406 missions around the world. The missionary force currently stands at a record 88,000 missionaries.
