Among countries and territories in Asia, by far the largest increase in Church membership during the past 10 years has been in the Philippines, increasing from 661,598 members in 2011 by 171,447 Latter-day Saints, to more than 800,000 at the close of 2021, which is the most recent figure published.

Taiwan had the second-largest increase, of 7,519 members. 

The Philippines also is the Asian nation with the most members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, followed by Japan and South Korea, according to statistics available on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

Of nations with at least 2,000 Church members, the largest percentage growth over 10 years was in India, a 49% increase, from 9,964 members to 14,866. Second was Cambodia, from 10,999 to 15,671, a 42% increase.


The United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Macao, Kuwait, Israel, Bahrain and Kazakhstan each has fewer than 2,000 members.

Statistics are not published by the Church for other areas in Asia.
