Women Auxiliary Leaders Meet With European Members

Sister Rosemary M. Wixom, general president of the Primary, and Sister Linda S. Reeves, second counselor in the Relief Society general presidency, recently traveled to Europe to meet with members and leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as media in the Czech Republic and Portugal. They visited Austria, Cape Verde, Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Portugal and Slovakia from 27 May through 7 June 2014.

Sister Wixom says Primary has two definitions and meanings to her: first, by definition it is the beginning, and second, that there is great importance in teaching young children important gospel principles to carry them throughout their life.

“The purpose of my visit is to feel the spirit of the members here and to feel the cultures and needs of the people. As I have traveled, I have seen children of all nationalities, and I have come to love them,” Sister Wixom explained.

Both of these church leaders had a central focus of love while traveling around Europe.

“I want children to know and understand that they are loved by Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, and that when we follow Jesus Christ we find great happiness,” Sister Wixom said.

Sister Wixom also offered advice to parents everywhere as they move forward with parenting challenges. She extended her love and gratitude to parents for loving and teaching their children.

The Relief Society is one of the oldest and the largest women’s organization in the world. For women 18 and older, the organization strives to build faith and personal righteousness while strengthening home and family and helping those in need.
