Family Values Award presented at British Parliament

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints join with other groups, religious organizations and individuals in promoting the family as the fundamental unit of society. This week, local Church leaders in Britain presented Baroness Scotland of Asthal QC, attorney general for England and Wales, with the 2010 Family Values Award for her efforts to combat domestic violence.

"Families are the cornerstone of our society," said Baroness Scotland. "Protecting them and reducing the incidence of domestic violence has been a major part of my work in government. I'm proud to have been able to assist in partnership with many others in addressing this issue and thank the Church and Terry Rooney MP for the honor of this award and recognition."

Vivienne Pattison, director of Mediawatch-UK, was also recognized for championing higher broadcast standards in media.
