    Louisville Kentucky Temple

    Plans to construct the temple were announced 17 March 1999, Church leaders broke ground 29 May 1999, and President Thomas S. Monson, then a counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicated the Louisville Kentucky Temple 19 March 2000. The temple serves Latter-day Saints in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.

      The 10,700-square-foot temple’s exterior is Danby Vermont marble.

      Currently, there are more than 20 temples in various stages of construction or have been announced throughout the world.
