    Nuku’alofa Tonga Temple

    Plans to construct the temple were announced 2 April 1980, Church leaders broke ground 18 February 1981, and President Gordon B. Hinckley, then a member of the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicated the Nuku’alofa Tonga Temple 9 August 1983. After the temple was renovated, Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles rededicated it 4 November 2007. The temple serves Latter-day Saints on the Tongan islands.

      The 21,184-square-foot temple’s exterior is R-wall finish and insulation system on concrete block.
