    Church leaders broke ground May 26, 1962 and David O. McKay, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1951 to 1970, dedicated the Oakland California Temple November 17, 1964. The temple serves Latter-day Saints in northern California.

      The 95,000-square-foot temple’s exterior is reinforced concrete faced with Sierra white granite from Raymond, California.
