The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will present “Love Thy Neighbor: A Special Tabernacle Choir Event” on Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 16, 2022, at 8 p.m. mountain daylight time at the Conference Center on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The event will feature music and narration that encourage everyone to care for one another, a central message for the Choir and Orchestra in their mission to inspire, uplift and bless the world through music. The program is designed to share feelings of comfort and hope during today’s troubled times, to inspire kindness and concern and to encourage Christlike outreach to everyone.

“The world needs the comfort and peace the choir’s music brings,” Choir president Michael Leavitt said. “The music and message of the concert will focus on the Savior’s second commandment to ‘love thy neighbor.’ We aspire to help those watching and listening to feel closer to God, experience His love, and feel prompted to share that love with others.”

Mack Wilberg, music director, and Ryan Murphy, associate music director, we conduct the music. The guest soloist is baritone Shea Owens, the director of opera at Brigham Young University.

On Saturday, July 16, at 8 p.m. MDT, watch the live stream and on-demand in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian and German on the Choir’s YouTube channel, TheTabernacle Choir.org website and Facebook page, and on the Church’s broadcasts.ChurchofJesusChrist.org (available for two weeks). The events will be the first Choir and Orchestra events open to the public since March 2020. The musicians are excited to invite the public back to experience this summer concert. The concert is also timed to coincide with the 1847 arrival of Latter-day Saint pioneers in the Salt Lake Valley.
