The 2025 youth theme, “Look unto Christ,” is the focus of a worldwide discussion for youth in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sunday, January 5, 2025.

This event will be facilitated through a prerecorded video featuring Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman, and Young Men General President Steven J. Lund.

“We’re going to take you on a field trip,” said President Freeman in an Instagram post. “It’s a Doctrine and Covenants year, and so it felt like a really good idea to start in the Sacred Grove.”

“And remember to invite a friend,” said Sister Andrea Muñoz Spannaus, Second Counselor in the Young Women General Presidency.

“Because this will be a topic that will be so fun to discuss together,” added President Freeman. “We’re going to be talking about how do we look unto Christ; what does that actually look like for each of us?”

Youth and leaders in wards or branches are encouraged to gather to watch the prerecorded broadcast at a time and location that best suits their needs and circumstances. All participants are invited to participate in the broadcast’s discussion portion.

Discussion Questions

The broadcast will pause periodically for youth to discuss the following questions focused on the new youth theme based on the scripture “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not” (Doctrine and Covenants 6:36):

  • When was a time you looked to Christ through prayer, scriptures, or the For the Strength of Youth guidebook?
  • When was a time you experienced doubt or fear and you looked to Christ?
  • How does it make you feel to know you belong to something bigger, the greatest work taking place on the earth today?
  • As you watch the next segment, silently ponder a time in your life when you received a heavenly ray of light.

2025 Youth Theme Resources

The two leaders said the broadcast will also introduce the 2025 theme, scripture, song and logo. These and other theme resources can be found at Youth.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

How Youth Can Prepare

President Freeman said leaders can help youth prepare by teaching them about a worldwide discussion and how youth all over the world will be gathering together, letting them know that they are going to be part of this worldwide discussion. She also said that youth may want to listen to the theme song and study Doctrine and Covenants 6:36 or the whole chapter.
