Seminaries and Institutes (S&I) Annual Training Broadcast

The S&I Annual Training Broadcast is a meeting for all members of the seminaries and institutes of religion program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The broadcast will be available for viewing on January 23, 2025, and will last for 90 minutes. It will be accessible for study and review in the Gospel Library.

It provides counsel, instruction and direction from Church leaders and S&I administrators to help members fulfill their roles and responsibilities.

Speakers

The speakers for the January 2025 broadcast will include:

• Elder Clark G. Gilbert, the Commissioner of the Church Educational System
• Chad H Webb, the S&I Administrator
• Jason Willard, S&I Associate Administrator

Jason Willard will introduce a series of training videos on seminary Life Preparation Lessons. The aim of these videos is to equip seminary teachers with key skills that will help them prepare Life Preparation lessons. The videos cover various aspects of preparation, including in-service training, teacher lesson preparation, a practical demonstration, and follow-up discussions.

Come Prepared to the Broadcast

In preparation for this broadcast, you are invited to do the following:

1. Study the “Invite Diligent Learning” section in Teaching in the Savior’s Way. Elder Gilbert invites you to study this section in Teaching in the Savior’s Way. This section provides valuable insights into how we can enhance our teaching and learning experiences. Following the broadcast, your in-service leaders will facilitate meetings to discuss the following questions:

• Why is gospel learning more effective when it includes personal action, preparation, sharing, and responding to personal invitations?
• What scriptural and prophetic statements confirm your observations to the previous question?
• What about these statements resonate with you personally?

2. Review the handout about preparing to teach a Life Preparation Lesson. Before the broadcast, please review this handout about teaching Life Preparation lessons. This handout will be available in multiple languages and, along with the videos, will be published in the Gospel Library.

All are invited and encouraged to watch the broadcast soon after it is made available in their language. Program administrators may plan larger gatherings to watch the broadcast and schedule in-service meetings to discuss and implement the messages. Coordinators may select portions of the broadcast that would be beneficial for training their stake seminary and institute teachers.
