During the Saturday evening session of general conference April 1, conducted by President Dallin H. Oaks, First Counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elder Juan A. Uceda, General Authority Seventy, spoke of becoming undershepherds to the Lord Jesus Christ by ministering to the one.

While leading one hundred elders or ten young women or two primary children, “you always, always minister to them, care for them and love them One by One, individually,” he said.

Elder Mark A. Bragg, General Authority Seventy, said people can gain Christlike poise by:

  1. Knowing their divine identity.
  2. Knowing there is a divine plan.
  3. Knowing the enabling power of Jesus Christ and His atonement.

“We truly are divine spiritual beings having a mortal experience,” he said. “Knowing who we are and being true to that divine identity are foundational to the development of Christlike poise.”

Elder K. Brett Nattress, General Authority Seventy, spoke about forgiveness. “To those who have strayed from the covenant path, please know there is always hope, there is always healing, and there is always a way back,” he said.

Brother Milton Camargo, First Counselor in the Sunday School General Presidency, said covenants help people focus their attention, thoughts and actions on Jesus Christ.

He invited individuals, couples and families to make scripture study more a part of their homes.  “The Lord Jesus Christ lives today. He can be an active, daily presence in our lives,” Brother Camargo said.

The opening prayer was given by Elder Jorge T. Becerra, General Authority Seventy, and the closing prayer was given by Sister J. Anette Dennis, First Counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency.

The music was provided by a combined choir from the Logan Institute of Religion, with directors Bryson Ashcraft, Eric Stauffer and Allen Matthews, and organist Linda Margetts.
