“Nurturing and protecting life that is yet unborn is not a political position. It is a moral law confirmed by the Lord through His prophets,” said Elder Neil L. Andersen at the beginning of the Saturday afternoon session of April 2025 general conference on April 5, 2025.
“The diminishing love for unborn children worldwide is a grave concern. God cherishes life. … As disciples of Jesus Christ, we cherish life,” he said. The Apostle and member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles encouraged loving ministering to all and said the Savior’s Atonement provides forgiveness for those who repent of moral transgressions or involvement in abortion (see also “The Family: A Proclamation to the World.”
Conducting this session in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City was Elder Ulisses Soares, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Church President Russell M. Nelson participated in the proceedings from home.
Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles told listeners that those who follow the teachings of Jesus Christ do not need to fear His Second Coming. “These teachings are crucial because personal preparation to meet Him is central to life’s purpose.” Magnifying talents and serving others are part of that preparation, he taught.
“Our love for God and His children is a powerful testimony to the world that this is truly the Savior’s Church,” taught Elder Dieter F. Uchdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. For those who are not yet members of the Church, “We invite you to join us as we rejoice in the Savior’s ‘song of redeeming love,’” he said.
Young Men General President Steven J. Lund, who was released during the Saturday morning session, spoke about the power and role of the Aaronic Priesthood, whose “ordinances allow [young men] to experience the weight and joy of being on the Lord’s errand preparing them for future priesthood service.”
Elder S. Mark Palmer, of the Presidency of the Seventy, told those whose testimonies may hang by “the slimmest of roots,” “We invite you to come back so you can once again taste the joyous fruit of the gospel.”
Elder Sandino Román, a General Authority Seventy, said,“When we have faith in Christ, we recognize His blessings and develop a relationship of trust with Him.” Building trust comes from recalling moments of gospel-inspired happiness, sincere prayer and gratitude.
