“It is the house of the Lord, and what stands out is the feeling of closeness to our Heavenly Father and our Savior. The focus on the Savior and the peace and quiet, that and [the] light that you feel in what can be a dark world for many people," said Elder Bennett.
“Temples are where we make sacred covenants with God, and in return, He blesses us with an extra measure of His love and mercy and capacity-enhancing power," said President Johnson.
Invited guests will tour the new house of the Lord on Tuesday, August 27, and Wednesday, August 28. A public open house will take place from Thursday, August 29, through Saturday, September 14, 2024, excluding Sundays. No tickets are needed to tour the temple.
“We are eager for the public, both here in Casper and in central Wyoming and elsewhere, to come and see the temple, to have a feeling of the peace that is in the temple, to understand a bit more about our doctrine and why the temple [is] so important to us," said Elder Rasband.
Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at the Casper Wyoming Temple dedication on Sunday, November 24, in one session at 10 a.m. The dedication will be broadcast to all units in the Casper temple district.

Church President Russell M. Nelson announced the Casper Wyoming Temple in April 2021. Construction began in October 2021. “Keep your temple covenants and blessings foremost in your minds and hearts,” he said as he announced 20 temples, including the Casper Wyoming Temple.
The Casper Wyoming Temple will be the second operating temple in Wyoming. The Star Valley Wyoming Temple was dedicated in October 2016. A temple in Cody was announced in October 2021.
The sacred structure in Casper will be the Church’s 201st house of the Lord. There are 350 temples in operation, under construction or announced worldwide.
Wyoming has a significant place in the history of the Church of Jesus Christ. Latter-day Saint pioneers traveled across the state in their westward migration to Utah in the mid-1800s.
"This is an especially sweet opportunity for me because my ancestors passed through this area as they followed the Oregon Trail on their way to the Salt Lake Valley in the middle of the 19th century," said President Johnson.
Temples of the Church of Jesus Christ are different from meetinghouses or chapels where members gather for Sunday worship services. A temple is considered a house of the Lord, where the teachings of Jesus Christ are reaffirmed through marriage, baptism and other sacred agreements that unite families for eternity.
