Festival of Lights at the Washington, D.C., Temple

WASHINGTON — Mexico’s ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Carlos de Icaza, will flip the switch that will turn on the Christmas lights on the grounds of the Washington, D.C., temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 1 December 2006.

The Christmas lights are a tradition that draws approximately 200,000 visitors to the temple each December. The month-long “Festival of Lights” will feature musical performances nightly.

The public is invited to tour the grounds to see the lights, as well as Nativity scenes from around the world. The festival runs from 1 December 2006 to 1 January 2007.
