Elder D. Todd Christofferson, an apostle for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, joined several prominent religious leaders Thursday night in New York City to pay tribute to Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, who received the prestigious Canterbury Medal from The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty (a public interest organization dedicated to protecting free expression of religious traditions).
A respect for the diverse beliefs and unique contributions of all the world’s faiths is one of the Church’s hallmarks. Other leaders honoring Rabbi Sacks included Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York; Princeton Professor Robert P. George, who serves on the Becket Fund Board of Directors; and Russell D. Moore, president of the Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission.

Past recipients of the Canterbury Medal include Latter-day Saint apostle Dallin H. Oaks, Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel, the late Prison Fellowship founder Charles Colson, financier Foster Friess, Archbishop Charles Chaput and the former ambassador to the Vatican James R. Nicholson, among others.
