The event will feature music and narration that encourage everyone to care for one another, a central message for the Choir and Orchestra in their mission to inspire, uplift and bless the world through music. The program is designed to share feelings of comfort and hope during today’s troubled times, to inspire kindness and concern and to encourage Christlike outreach to everyone.

The concerts will be the first Choir and Orchestra events open to the public since March 2020. The musicians are excited to invite the public back to experience this summer concert. The concert is also timed to coincide with the 1847 arrival of Latter-day Saint pioneers in the Salt Lake Valley.

Program

The performance will open with songs and a short tribute to the Latter-day Saint pioneers. These will be followed by songs on the “Love Thy Neighbor” theme, including “Fill the World With Love” from “Goodbye, Mr. Chips,” “Love One Another,” “Where Love Is,” and “Hold On” from “The Secret Garden.” Interwoven with the musical numbers will be narration delivered in a unique way. The concert will be conducted by Mack Wilberg, music director, and Ryan Murphy, associate music director. The featured solo artist will be baritone Shea Owens, director of opera at Brigham Young University.

Other Ways to Watch

The event will be streamed on Saturday, July 16, at 8 p.m. MDT on the Choir’s YouTube channel, on the Choir’s website and the Church’s Live Broadcasts page.  It will be aired on BYUtv on Sunday, July 24, at 3:30 p.m. MDT and will also be available on BYUtv.org, the BYUtv app and the KSL TV app.
