Media Blitz

Misstatement:

"When Utah was awarded the Olympics, the church began a public relations blitz."

Fact:

The "blitz" was in fact two mailings that were sent more than five years after the games were awarded to Salt Lake City. Late in 2000, reporters received lists of story ideas and Web site information, and later a calendar of Utah scenes. The response was entirely positive.
