Italy: Mayor of Rome Visits Temple Construction Site

Rome’s mayor, Gianni Alemanno, and Cristiano Bonelli, president of the IV Municipality of Rome, toured the Church’s temple site in April. Mayor Alemanno, an environmental engineer, was impressed with the Church’s high construction standards and materials, including the systems employed to manage water consumption, electrical production and the low environmental impact of the temple complex.
European Church leader Elder José Teixeira and Elder Massimo De Feo of the Seventy, joined by construction staff, escorted the local government leaders on the tour providing detail of what the temple complex will include.

Dominican Republic: Family Values Art Gallery
Mormons in the Dominican Republic have created an art gallery featuring images taken from “Mormonads” of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which depict moral values and standards of living.
The messages expressed in the gallery are aimed at children and young adults to empower them to face the challenges of daily life, particularly within the family, school and community.
The gallery idea started in 2011, and more than 38,000 visitors have viewed photography and art pieces that portray values such as self-esteem, faith, modesty, courtesy, kindness, obedience, health, honesty, patience, self-confidence and service to others.

Uganda: Church Boosts National Football Association
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Jinja district of Uganda, in the southeast part of the country, donated footballs to the Federation of Uganda Football Association recently. The donation event occurred during the kickoff of the annual Presidential Under-16 Cup and the unveiling of their newly constructed technical center in nearby Njeru.
Association president, Lawrance Mulindwa, expressed great appreciation to the Church for its continued support and friendship.

Ukraine: Modern Kitchen Equipment Donated by Church in Ukraine
Stoves, ovens, freezers and other kitchen equipment have been donated by Humanitarian Services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to an orphanage in the southern Ukraine city of Snyatyn.
The orphanage serves 110 children and adults ranging in age from five to 30, all of whom are physically and mentally disabled. The Church also donated laundry equipment and supplies.

Uganda: Political Leaders Praise the Church for Its Positive Influence
Political leaders in Uganda recognized The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the various contributions it has made to improve the lives of Ugandans over the years.
During a dinner in Uganda’s capital city, Kampala, multiple political leaders expressed thanks for the Church’s hard work on water projects, improved child nutrition and religious tolerance.

Canada: Mormons Invited to Host Jewish Commemoration
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was asked to host the Christian Jewish Dialogue of Montreal at the 34th annual Christian commemoration of the Shoah mid-April.
This marks the first time members of the Church in Montreal have been invited to participate in this annual tradition. The event brings Jews and Christians together on Holocaust Remembrance Day.
