
RootsTech 2026

RootsTech is hosted annually by FamilySearch, an international genealogy organization and website sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The 3-day genealogy conference includes a variety of family history-themed activities, including:- Keynote speakers addressing the power of family connection
- Hundreds of in-person and online classes for beginners and experts
- A virtual Expo Hall for browsing and learning about new products
- Daily forums on the latest breakthroughs in family history research and innovation
“Every year, we look forward to welcoming millions of RootsTech participants from around the world,” said FamilySearch director of events, Jonathan Wing. “We are committed to providing a world-class experience that will inspire and empower our attendees to make meaningful discoveries.”
Last year’s conference drew millions of participants from over 200 countries and territories.
How to Register
To register for RootsTech, visit the registration page on the RootsTech website, which opened Wednesday, September 24. There are two registration options — one for attending online and one for attending in person in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Free Online Event
Virtual participants will be able to watch RootsTech from anywhere in the world at no cost. Registration is encouraged and ensures full access to all livestreamed and online RootsTech events once the conference starts. Register here.
In-Person Event
Those who plan to attend RootsTech in person can register now and take advantage of early-bird pricing. Register online or in person at the event. Early bird pricing: $99 for 3 days or $69 for 1 day. Family Discovery Day is Saturday, March 7, and is free for the whole family. Register here.

Classes for Every Skill Level
Whether a participant is a family history beginner or a master, RootsTech offers plenty of in-person and online classes to choose from on a variety of topics. The full Rootstech 2026 conference schedule will be available on RootsTech.org in January of 2026.

In the RootsTech Expo Hall inside the Salt Palace Convention Center, attendees can learn about new innovations, try new products or ask questions to company representatives. Online participants can do many of the same things in the virtual Expo Hall on RootsTech.org.
Inspiring Main Stage Presentations
The Main Stage is where keynote speakers share how heritage, connection and family discovery have shaped their lives with the thousands of attendees filling the auditorium and hundreds of thousands more joining online.

With so many people participating in RootsTech online and in person, participants have a good chance of running into at least one relative. By selecting the option in the RootsTech app titled Relatives at RootsTech, in-person attendees may find a family connection.Those joining online can go to rootstech.org/connect. The activity scans their FamilySearch Family Tree and quickly compares it with other people at the conference who have enabled the experience. Then it tells them where their branches cross and how they’re related.
Free Family Discovery Day
For Latter-day Saints, RootsTech offers ways to help families grow their love for Jesus Christ and the temple through inspiring messages from Church leaders. Saturday, March 7, is Family Discovery Day, a free event at the Salt Palace Convention Center featuring games and family history activities for all ages.
