Torah Bright is one of the world's best female snowboarders, with a string of first-place and top-ten finishes. The young Australian athlete is gearing up for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, next February, where she is expected by some to win gold.
In two recent articles published by Australia's Daily Telegraph newspaper, Bright talks about her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
According to the Daily Telegraph, "In a sport renowned for anti-social behavior, drug-taking, grungy clothing and unkempt appearances, Bright is a breath of fresh mountain air."
"She is a beautiful, non-drinking, non-cursing 22-year-old who is as devoted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as she is to snowboarding."
In a second article she told the newspaper: "I'm more than happy to talk about my religion. To break down a few myths."
In 2008, she was voted the best female snowboarder of all time by her colleagues at the ESPN-sponsored X-Games.
