The Hamilton New Zealand Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be rededicated on Sunday, October 16, 2022, in three sessions: at 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m.

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at the rededication and at a youth devotional to be held Saturday, October 15, the day before the rededication.

A free public open house is scheduled for Friday, August 26, through Saturday, September 17 (excluding August 28, September 4 and September 11).

The Hamilton New Zealand Temple, which was originally dedicated on April 20, 1958, by President David O. McKay, has been closed since July 2018 for extensive renovation. The temple currently serves all Latter-day Saints in New Zealand. An additional temple is under construction in Auckland and it was recently announced that another temple will be built in Wellington.

New Zealand is home to nearly 117,000 Latter-day Saints in 30 stakes and almost 230 congregations.
