Pacific: Church Leader Visits New Zealand

Sister Burton New Zealand

The leader of one of the oldest women’s organizations in the world is visiting women in the South Pacific.

Sister Linda K. Burton, Relief Society general president, spoke to more than one thousand Latter-day Saint women in Auckland, New Zealand, on 19 February 2013. Visits included one with a 100-year-old Mormon woman who has spent many years serving others.

Guatemala: School Supplies Given by the Church
In providing the supplies, Church representatives explained great rewards come and the doors of opportunity open for those who invest in lifelong learning.

Chile: Christmas Town Summer House Receives Toys
Local leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the faith’s members worked with the Helen Keller Corporation in Chile to collect toys, games and other items to comfort and entertain at-risk children and youth.

The items were gratefully received by the children who will play with the toys in the summer house, a safe place for them located in Christmas town.

United Kingdom: Hours Worked, Money Raised for Hospital
Patients in the Children's Critical Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, England, were the clear beneficiaries of the efforts by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

During the week of Christmas, Mormons volunteered 350 hours by wrapping presents for holiday shoppers in the Westgate Shopping Centre. The fund-raising effort produced more than £3,500 ($5,600) to help provide specialist care for children who are fighting against serious illnesses.

Bolivia: Church Honored by La Paz Government
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was honored recently for its service to the people of Bolivia.

A local government official recognized the Church for its efforts to improve the lives of Bolivians and for always being ready to assist people who need help.
