The Hill Cumorah Pageant is ending after 84 years. As a thank you for the contributions of tens of thousands of participants, volunteers and audience members over the years, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will present a devotional with Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and a broadcast of the 2019 Hill Cumorah Pageant on July 9, 2021.
How to Watch
Watch the devotional and pageant broadcast on broadcasts.ChurchofJesusChrist.org beginning Friday, July 9, at 6:00 p.m. mountain daylight time, in English (English descriptive audio available for the pageant), Spanish, Portuguese and ASL for two weeks.
After the two weeks, the Hill Cumorah Pageant will be available to watch in Gospel Media. However, the Hill Cumorah Devotional will no longer be available for viewing.
The Hill Cumorah Pageant — originally scheduled to have its final season in 2021 — was canceled due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pageant broadcast will be a recording of the 2019 Hill Cumorah Pageant, which ran from July 11–13 and 16–20.
The 2019 pageant featured its largest cast ever with 770 participants, whose ages ranged from 6 months to 82 years old, filling 1,200 roles. The cast, 150-person staff and crew volunteered an estimated 230,000 hours.
Occurring annually since 1937, the Hill Cumorah Pageant has been one of the largest outdoor theater productions in the United States.
The pageant, which featured scenes from the Book of Mormon, was performed each year on the hillside next to the Hill Cumorah Visitors’ Center in Manchester, New York, about three miles south of the Sacred Grove.
The Hill Cumorah is a sacred site where the Prophet Joseph Smith experienced five encounters with the angel Moroni and retrieved the ancient gold plates from which he translated the Book of Mormon.
